Workshops - Marty Pistone
MASTERING THE CAMERA FOR ADULTS!

Marty Pistone has enjoyed an illustrious and eclectic career. He is an accomplished actor of twenty-eight years and received an MFA from The American Conservatory Theatre. His faculty credits include Stanford University, Berkeley Digital Film Institute, the American Conservatory Theatre, California Institute of the Arts, Juliard, NYU, and the Lee Strasberg Institute.

His numerous choreography credits include regional theatres across the country, the San Francisco Opera, the San Francisco Ballet (for which he also danced), The Public Theatre in New York where he choreographed Denzel Washington in Richard III, as well as a plethora of television shows and feature films. He was the choreographer in residence for the award-winning Fountain Theatre in Hollywood, where he also acted and directed.

During his tenure in the theatre he has had the opportunity to act, direct, choreograph and produce. His acting career has led him to teaching, directing and producing which are his current passions. His talent for collaboration and grasping "the big picture" has naturally drawn him to film. He has worked as a producer, stunt coordinator, and assistant director on numerous commercials and feature films as well as several award-winning independent projects.

Marty enjoys applying his diverse palette of skills both in front of and behind the camera and curtain. His gift for communication has enabled him to inspire students whether children or adults, beginners or professionals.

In this workshop, MASTERING THE CAMERA - TEENS & ADULTS, students will learn the elements of on-camera acting in a supportive and enjoyable environment with an emphasis on process rather than result. The student will gain an acting technique appropriate for film work and an "on-set" working vocabulary. The class will include on-camera experience, from the actor's perspective, with a focus on listening; and technical information, from a production point of view, including production jargon, production set definitions, and the examination of the actor's etiquette on set.

Week 4:
  • Film Scene
Week 5:
  • Set Operations
  • Talk about the crews and what they do.
Week 6:
  • Review Edited Film Scenes
  • Talk about the business
  • Call sheets
